The Handheld component of the PackMin system is based around the Symbol industrial handheld computers.

This is a wireless access device that connects to the PackMin system and has the following features:

• Full stocktake system
• Palletise products and generate SSCC labels
• Receive purchase orders by scanning GS1 barcodes
• Track stock levels
• Pick work orders
• Pick sales orders
• Transfer stock

PackMin Handheld is a wireless interface to the main PackMin system and so always has live up-to-date information.  As work is being done on the handheld, the system is being updated so that as soon as it is completed the whole system is fully aware.  For example, as soon as a purchase order is received using the handheld, it can be used in production.
